Impulse Technology was founded in 2013 by two Penn State University researchers, Dr. Kamrun Nahar, who served as a research faculty member in the Engineering Science and Mechanics department at the time, and Dr. Aman Haque, a Mechanical Engineering Professor. The company was founded with the goal of commercializing innovative ideas and products in high-impact mechanical and energy applications. Our current focus is on the design, modeling, and fabrication of prosthetics and other compliant mechanical systems.
Since 2017, Impulse Technology has been developing prosthetic components. Impulse currently has a commercially available, passive prosthetic ankle that allows a prosthetic leg to more closely mimic human movement. Development of other prosthetic leg components are in the pipeline.
